LONDON EVENTS III
EVENTOS EN LONDRES III

With the start of the summer, it's not just the first rays of sun that arrive to London but also a host of cultural activities that colour up this time of the year. Apart of making a list of some of the most popular events within the design world around the city, I will speak especially of one of the events I attended last year and this year again.

- Pick me up (from 18 to 28 April)
As every year, the fair Pick me up is one of the first to get to get going even though this year's edition has been delayed until late April instead of starting in late March as it did the last year (from March 22 to April 1).

This year I am not aware that any app was ever developed for the event as it did last year. This is a good improvement when you consider that there isn't neither phone reception or wifi at Somerset House. Not that it makes a difference anyway since this year the app ideas seems to have mutated to a contest asking to share photos of the event as it happens (inside reception-less Somerset House..) via Instagram...

On the other hand, i would like to clarify that this fair is basically about illustration and is clearly aimed at students (a quick look at the schedules and activities in the program shows this). The most interesting part of the fair is the "Selected" section which is usually situated just upon entering the fair. Unfortunately we found quite a few repeated selections from the previous edition and/or selections that are easily accessible in other London-based fairs (which I will mention below..).

In short, it is a good place to visit during the weekend for £8 if you have nothing better to do and would like to see what's going on in the illustration world. But don't buy any of the multi-day passes (£15) unless it's because you signed up to any of the talks or workshops that are organized (talks are charged separately, of course). Remember that you can see everything exhibited at the fair online since they share each of the links of the artists who are taking part in the event.

We'll see how many more will be added to the list ... enjoy!

- Behance Portfolio Reviews Meetup (15 Mayo)

- Clerkenwell Design Week (21-23 May)

- HOW DO WE COMMUNICATE DESIGN? - Design Museum (23 mayo)

- Hackney Downs Studios - OPEN STUDIOS (23 mayo)
RSVP: hdsreception@creativenetworkpartners.com

- TIP TOP TALENT - SheSays event (23 mayo)

- Unit Editions - Designers as Publishers (30 mayo)
Evento del The Typographic Circle, £16 para no socios.

- Sucker Punch - SheSays event (10 junio)

- DESIGNER NIGHT | STARTING UP - Design Museum (18 junio)
Evento que empieza a las 8pm, cuesta £17.

- It's Nice That. Here (21 June)

- ELCAF - East London comics & art festival (22 junio)

¡a disfrutar!
